In the battle for Olympic qualification Croatia's Enia Nincevic/Romana Zupan finished the race ahead of Austria's Lara Vadlau/Eva-Maria Schimak, with Russia's Natalia Ivanova/Diana Kurtskikh further back. Pending any protests this finish order would give the final two Olympic nation qualification places to Croatia and Austria. Confirmation will be given later.

18/5/2012 17:00Australia Wraps Up Worlds Title, China and Poland Qualify to Olympics - On the penultimate day of racing at the 2012 470 World Championships, Mat Belcher and Malcolm Page (AUS) secured their third successive World Championship title. Their win in race 12 sealed victory for the pair. In the 470 Women Gold Fleet, teams from China and Poland have qualified their nations to the 2012 Olympic Games. The final two Olympic qualification places in the 470 Women event will be fought out on Saturday's final race between the teams representing Croatia, Austria and Russia with only 4 points separating them.

17/5/2012 17:51470 Women Gold Fleet Update - after Race 9 and based on the PROVISIONAL results, the unqualified Olympic nation leaderboard show Poland's Agnieszka Skrzypulec/Jolanta Ogar in 19th overall, then the three teams from China in 21st, 22nd, 23rd, Croatia in 24th on equal points with Austria in 25th and Russia 26th. It doesn't get closer than this – and all the teams must remember in the pressurised environment out on the race course is all they have to do is stay ahead of the next unqualified nation. No race wins required here, just safe sailing! Keeping themselves out of trouble in race 9, Denmark's Henriette Koch/Lene Sommer scored a 5th place to move up to 6th overall.
