470 Development Programmes

Continuing the delivery of support to 470 teams from around the world, the International 470 Class Association is pleased to announce its 2013 Development Programmes.

The 470 Class programmes are focused on improving the ability of sailors through high quality coaching and race training and to provide financial support to compete at 470 Championships.

2013 will kick off by supporting teams to compete at 470 Championships through the 470 International Solidarity Programme, which focuses on the younger teams from developing 470 nations and provides free entry fees to the 470 Worlds, Europeans, Junior Worlds and Junior Europeans. Equipment support will also be offered through the provision sails to teams competing at the 470 Junior European Championships, taking place in Pwllheli, Great Britain from 14-22 August 2013. APPLY BY 1 JUNE 2013

Taking place immediately before 470 Junior Championships, our three-day Race Training clinics provide daily briefing and coached race training run by 470 appointed world class coaches and help teams to reach their maximum potential for the Championships. This year, the Junior Race Training Clinic will take place from 24-26 July 2013, immediately before before the 470 Junior World Championships in La Rochelle, France. APPLY BY 14 JULY 2013

All 470 sailors are welcome to apply to these programmes, although the 470 Class’ first priority will be to young teams who are campaigning and those teams from developing sailing nations.

Stanislav Kassarov, 470 Class President commented, “Through the comprehensive development support available, our programmes are also targeted at not only the current 470 campaigners, but also to attract new countries to the 470 Class and support those nations currently developing 470 sailing. We have supported many teams over the past two years from more than 40 nations and the 470 Class is 100% committed to developing and encouraging our sailors.”
